Dr. Nguyen Phan Que Mai is the author of thirteen books in both Vietnamese and English. Her Vietnamese poetry collections have been adapted into numerous popular songs and have won top literary awards in Vietnam, including the 2010 Poetry of the Year Award from the Hanoi Writers’ Association.
Her English-language works include two global bestsellers: *The Mountains Sing* and *Dust Child*. Her books have been translated into over 25 languages and have received prestigious international honors, such as the PEN Oakland/Josephine Miles Literary Award, the International Book Award, the BookBrowse Best Debut Award, and a Lannan Literary Fellowship in Fiction; *The Mountains Sing* was also a runner-up for the Dayton Literary Peace Prize.
She holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Lancaster University in the UK. In 2021, she was named one of the “20 Inspiring Women of the Year” by *Forbes Vietnam*, and she was recently listed by Research House of Asia as one of the ten prominent female novelists shaping Southeast Asian literature.
