Brother Phap Huu is a monk within Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh’s international community and serves as the Abbot of the monastic community at Plum Village, the practice center founded by Thich Nhat Hanh in southwestern France.
Born in Vietnam, he immigrated to Canada as a child. He began his practice with Thich Nhat Hanh at the age of 13, when he entered the monastery to become a monk. Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh gave him the Dharma name *Chân Pháp Hữu*, meaning “True Dharma Friend.” For over a decade, he accompanied Thich Nhat Hanh on international teaching tours, serving as the Zen Master’s attendant and assistant.
Today, Brother Phap Huu is deeply committed to community building and carrying on Thich Nhat Hanh’s legacy, particularly by sharing the teachings with businesspeople, climate activists, leaders, families, and young people.
Brother Phap Huu loves basketball, music, and developing new approaches to teamwork, leadership, mentoring, and coaching; he is also a popular co-host of the Plum Village podcast, *THE WAY OUT IS IN*.
